The best works were selected from submissions from over 100 countries.

The jury of the international Siena International Photography Awards competition, which has been held for the second time ever this year, named the 2016 winners after selecting the best photographs from several thousands submissions.

The Photo of the Year title, along with a €1,500 prize, went to Greg Lecoeur from France who captured the migration of sardines near the shores of South Africa.

The jury also selected winners in several theme categories: for instance, Mario Famiani from Italy won in the Nature category, and Leyla Emektar from Turkey won in the category Travel. Danny Yen Sin Wong and Audun Rikardsen won Open Color and Sport respectively.
